Welcome back to Kids Camp! We hope you’re as excited as we are about next summer at Camp Copneconic. Details for Kids Camp 2023 will be available in early 2023.

The goal of Kids Camp is to provide children with chronic kidney disease the opportunity to enjoy an exciting summer camp adventure in the great outdoors, complete with recreational activities and new friends. Campers will have the opportunity to enjoy hiking, swimming, ziplines, creating arts and crafts, campfires, and much, much more! In a world where kids spend more and more time using technology, these group activities allow campers to unplug and form authentic bonds with staff and other children. At Kids Camp, campers have “real time” instead of screen time.

Children 8-16 years old who have chronic kidney disease, are currently on dialysis, or who have received a kidney transplant are invited to attend Kids Camp and join us for a fun summer adventure at YMCA Camp Copneconic in Fenton Michigan!

Medical Information

Kids Camp would not be possible without the support of many dedicated volunteers of nephrologists, nurses, and social workers from the Detroit Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Michigan Medicine’s C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, and Spectrum Health’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. These trained professionals watch over our campers around the clock and see to their medical needs. Arrangements are made for campers who require dialysis. Peritoneal dialysis takes place in a germ-free environment at Camp Copneconic. Campers requiring hemodialysis are transported to a nearby dialysis facility. All medications are dispensed by our skilled nursing staff. The entire Kids Camp staff is devoted to creating a positive experience that will impact the lives of our campers. During the past 34 years, approximately 900 children have participated in the Kids Camp program.
