Platinum Rating from GuideStar
The NKFM is proud to have earned the Platinum Level Rating from GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. This rating shows the NKFM is committed to transparency and to giving donors and funders meaningful data to evaluate nonprofit performance.
To reach the Platinum level, we added extensive information to our GuideStar Nonprofit Profile including in-depth financial information; qualitative information about goals, strategies, and capabilities; and quantitative information about results and progress toward our mission. Four Star Rating from Charity Navigator
The NKFM has earned 13 consecutive 4-star ratings from Charity Navigator, the nation’s leading charity evaluator. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that the NKFM adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Only 1% of the charities rated have received at least 13 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that the NKFM outperforms most other charities in America.
This “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan from its peers and demonstrates to the public that we are worthy of their trust. Read more on our Charity Navigator profile.
Better Business Bureau Accreditation
The NKFM is proud to have met all 20 Better Business Bureau Charity Standards to become a BBB Accredited Charity. The overarching principle of the BBB Standards for Charity Accountability is full disclosure to donors and potential donors at the time of solicitation and thereafter. However, where indicated, the standards recommend ethical practices beyond the act of disclosure in order to ensure public confidence and encourage giving.
